Learning to Love Yourself - Trying to Parent Mindfully
Yesterday, on the couch, he is on a week TV ban and a MONTH minecraft ban because of behavior. So we were reading, snuggling. I was trying to just ignore my phone and be present. “mama?” Yeah bud? (half-listening) “mama … I … I think I am an ugly face … I … I don’t like to look in the mirror.” :flushed: I snap to attention, but not outwardly. “why do you think that buddy?” OMFG, HE’S 7! “i Don’t know” “Ok, well let’s think about it. Sometimes I struggle with it too. Do you think I’m beautiful?” “Oh YES mom!” “Well I think you are equally as handsome, but maybe that’s not what’s important. Do you have love in your heart?” “I think so…” “Oh I think you definitely do. And if you have love in your heart, you have love in your face. And if you have love in your face, how can you NOT be handsome?”
“oh, ok”.
